Why am I a Christian?

At times, it is not that you don’t believe, but some days, events and circumstances make you doubt your faith, doubt the existence of God, and His presence in your life. You wonder, if there is God, why should I lose a loved one at a young age, if there is God why should my spouse die, if there is God, why should he allow an entire family to be wiped out by an enemy.

You may wonder, I am a Christian; I trust God; I believe in Him; I worship Him, so why should he allow evil and calamity to grace my path, and then you ask, what’s the essence of being a Christian.

A woman was once told a car hit and killed her daughter, her first comment was, “but I prayed this morning, I covered all my children with the blood of Jesus.” Then she looked up and asked. “God, Why?”

Yes, God, why? is a question most Christians ask, especially when calamity assaults us. The bible tells us that no one can question God. He owes us no explanation for the things He does and how He does it. He is God, Almighty, omnipotent, omniscient and omniscience. His ways are far above ours. Its either you believe and trust him despite all odds or you don’t.

However, in all situation, the strength of your reliance on God depends on why you are a Christian.

What is the foundation of your Christianity?

Are you a Christian because you have no choice because you are born into a Christian home? Is your Christianity fueled by fear or by contentment with your worldly acquisitions? Your faith is most tried when you feel you’re drowning in a sea of misfortunes, ill-lucks, tragedies and betrayals. In such circumstances, you felt confused, especially if you feel you are a ‘good Christian’ and in good stead with God.

Well, goodness, piousness and faithfulness are never shields against the doomsday, for surely it will come and the reason you are a Christian, and understanding of God’s word is your armour against the vilest thing life will hurl at you.

Are you a Christian because you love God with all your heart and mind and want to serve Him all your life in any situation and circumstance follow him through every storm without vacillating? There are two things involved if love for God does not drive you to his bosom, then the fear of the unknown, fear of evil will definitely do that for. It is better to choose the love of God as the foundation of your Christianity.

Waste to wealth

Mrs. Matilda Taiwo is one woman who is very determined to succeed and excel in her waste to wealth venture which she started

When she resigned from her salary work, she went into picking pure-water packing bags off the street, she gathered so much that when she got a company to buy them, she made six hundred and fifty thousand naira, that straightens her resolves that there is money in the recycling

From there she got a contract to be supplying her nylon to a Chinese company, one day one of the company’s director told her, either Nigerians are lazy or blind because there’s lots of money lying in their gutters and no one seems to care. This statement spurred her into action.

She set up her own company, Goodware stitches ltd. and with locally fabricated machines she went into production, six months after a heavy downpour in Lagos caused the building she rented the ground floor to collapse and nothing was salvaged.

She sold her cars and other properties despite family opposition to start all over again. Today she is happy her gut instinct paid off, her waste bag nylon is growing and her company is expanding.

Will you allow your wife be a bus driver in Lagos?

More and more women are leaving the comfort of homes and sedately jobs to jostle with men in the rough streets of Lagos.
Being a commercial bus driver isn’t an easy job for men how much more for women, but nowadays more and more women are braving the odds, most probably as the economic situation in the country worsens. Some women are taken the lead as bread winners in their family; they are prepared to do any legitimate labour or job to put food on the table for their families.
One woman who is not afraid to go into the rough and tumble world of commercial bus driving is Mrs. Patricia Nnameani. She drives a mini-bus along the Ago-Cele route on daily basis. Being a bus driver was a self made decision but with the support of her husband and children, she is enjoying the job with its challenges and she hopes to raise money from it to get a bigger bus to increase her daily income.

She has been in the business for seven months now and waxing stronger. She advised more women to go in to commercial driving, that it pays better than sitting in a shop with low or no sales and at the end of the year you borrow or beg for money to pay the high rent landlords are charging par shop.

There are others like her who drives ‘keke’, big buses and even school buses. The big question is how many men will allow their wives take up commercial driving in Lagos especially?

Bruce/Caitlyn Jenner transformation story.

Bruce Jenner.jpg

Former Bruce Jenner, now Caitlyn had a 10-hour facial feminization surgery in March of this year, to complete his transgender journey.
In an interview with Vanity Fair, Jenner said the operation took twice as long as expected. After an initial panic attack following the surgery, she spoke with a counselor and put the second-guessing behind her. Jenner told the magazine she firmly stands by her decision:

"If I was lying on my deathbed and I had kept this secret and never ever did anything about it, I would be lying there saying, 'You just blew your entire life. You never dealt with yourself,' and I don't want that to happen," she said.

Jenner had taken steps toward feminization in the past, including taking hormones that resulted in breast growth and procedures for facial hair removal, her facial surgery was the final step of her transition. Vanity Fair reported that she did not have genital surgery.

Facial feminization surgery can include a number of procedures, including the re-positioning and reshaping of the eyebrows and hairline, chin and jaw reductions, cheek augmentation, lift lips, and tracheal shaving, or reducing the size of the Adam's apple, Dr. Jeffrey Spiegel, a Boston-based plastic surgeon who specializes in facial feminization surgery, told CBS News.

Speaking publicly for the first time since completing her gender transition, Caitlyn Jenner compared her emotional two-day photo shoot with Annie Leibovitz for the July cover of Vanity Fair to winning the gold medal for the decathlon at the 1976 Olympics. She told contributing editor and author of Friday Night Lights Buzz Bissinger during an interview.

For the children, the issue of the transition was a non-issue because already he had told them individually about the transition he went ahead to change his gender. They told Bissinger they feel both happiness for their father and inspiration at Jenner’s bravery, and they all still see their dad as their dad regardless of any gender label.

His son,Brandon said he was a little taken aback when he saw Caitlyn for the first time after surgery and she pulled her top up to reveal her new breasts. “Whoa, I’m still your son,” he reminded her.

As part of the transition, Jenner started hosting small gatherings called “girls’ nights” with wine and food where Jenner could dress as desired and feel natural in the presence of women.

For those who viewed her action as part of a publicity stunt for a reality show. She told them, "I’m doing it to help my soul and help other people. If I can make a dollar, I certainly am not stupid. [I have] house payments and all that kind of stuff. I will never make an excuse for something like that. Yeah, this is a business. You don’t go out and change your gender for a television show. O.K., it ain’t happening. I don’t care who you are.”
