The much anticipated big budget film, Half of a
Yellow Sun (HOAYS). has finally being giving the go ahead order by The National Film and Video
Censors Board (NFVCB).The film adaptation of Chimamanda Adichie's novel of the same title, directed by Biyi Bandele and starring Nigerian-born actor, Chinwetel Ejiofor, featured prominently on the list of 77 movies, which the NFVCB said its department of classification has approved for June 2014.
The NFVCB refused the film classification when the promoters applied for certification in April 2014 on the grounds that it contained scenes that may cause ethnic uproar.
Half of a Yellow Sun, has being premiered at the Toronto International Film Festival in 2013 . In addition, it won the best film prize award at the just concluded Zanzibar International Film Festival and it featured prominently at the NollywoodWeek Paris Film Festival.
